Xavi Fores gets full-time WSBK ride for 2016
Xavi Fores will race full-time in World Superbikes next year after being announced as the sole rider for satellite Ducati team Barni Racing.
The Spaniard deputised for the injured Davide Giugliano at the works Ducati outfit at three rounds in 2015, taking a best finish of fifth place on home turf at Aragon.
Now Fores will return to the championship on a permanent basis next year, replacing Leandro Mercado, who finished eighth in this year's standings for the Barni squad.
"I am really happy with this opportunity, to be in WorldSBK next season, especially because I have been working so hard to be with Ducati," said Fores.
"The bike will be more or less the same as that of [Ducati works riders] Giugliano and [Chaz] Davies, so for me it is a very good opportunity.
"I will be the only rider. That is a good thing for me because it means that all of the material, all of the mechanics and all the team will be working only with me. That is important to do a very good job."
2016 will be Fores' first full-time WSBK campaign, the 30-year old having previously won titles in Superstock 1000 and the German Superbike championship.
