SEAT Sport confirms third driver for WTCC

SEAT Sport has announced that 20 year old German driver Peter Terting, runner-up in the 2004 German SEAT Leon Supercopa, will team up with Spain's Jordi Gene and Swede Rickard Rydell for the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), scheduled to begin on 10 April 2005 at the Monza circuit in Italy.

Terting, whose racing career has largely been supported by the Volkswagen Group, made a name for himself during the 2004 season with five wins. Thanks to that success, SEAT has decided to reward him with the opportunity of driving for a front-line team in the FIA World Touring Car Championship.

Terting will, therefore, be driving the team's third Toledo Cupra in the WTCC. During his first year with the team, he will be looking forward to getting a feel for driving a 260 hp car and collaborating with the team's technicians and engineers to help put SEAT Sport in a position to regularly win points and podiums.

Following the Christmas break, SEAT Sport is scheduled to run the initial tests for the 2005 season in mid-January, with the aim of arriving at the first meeting of the newly-created WTCC in top form.

My 2004 season with SEAT Sport technology through the powerful Leon Cupra has been very satisfactory, and I'm greatly looking forward to taking this leap. I'm now at a significant stage in my racing career".

We chose Peter after assessing his track tests and evaluating his career over the past years and his experience at different single-seater and touring car championships, as well as the fact he has driven all the Volkswagen Group manufacturers' cars. Peter has demonstrated his potential in 2004 in the German Supercopa, and we believe that next year he will catch on quickly to driving the more powerful and sophisticated Toledo Cupra in the FIA World Touring Car Championship".
