Genoa Racing to Continue Its Association With GETG at Mid-Ohio This Weekend

ZIONSVILLE, Ind., Aug. 3 - Genoa Racing will continue its association with Green Earth Team Gunnar (GETG) for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge on Saturday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, Genoa Racing team manager Thomas Knapp confirmed today.

The 2-hour-and-45-minute race is the sixth of nine races in the 2010 American Le Mans Series Presented by Tequila Patron.

Genoa Racing's sporting director, Tom Sedivy of Raleigh, N.C., and GETG driver Christian Zugel of Holmdel, N.J. shared the driving duties for Genoa Racing's Oreca FLM09 Le Mans Prototype Challenge (LMPC) No. 36 at the series' most recent race, the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn., on July 24. The bright-red Genoa Racing machine was transformed to match the vivid green "flora and fauna" color scheme GETG uses on its primary car, the No. 99, to promote GETG's environmentally-focused partners: G-Oil, Bayshore Recycling of Keasbey, N.J. and the Zais Group.

The No. 99 and its drivers, Gunnar Jeannette and Elton Julian, won the LMPC class at Lime Rock Park.

Sedivy qualified Genoa Racing's No. 36 fifth in class at Lime Rock. Zugel started the race and then was relieved by Sedivy around the halfway point, and together their combined efforts were rewarded with a fourth-place finish in class.

The Genoa Racing No. 36 will remain bright green for Mid-Ohio, where it will be driven by Zugel and 19-year-old Frankie Montecalvo of Highlands, N.J. The latter drives for GETG in the IMSA Cooper Tires Prototype Lites series, where he is currently fourth in the Lites 1 point standings. He also shares the Multimatic Motorsports Ford Mustang GT No. 16 with GETG's lead driver, Jeannette, in the Grand Sport class of the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

"We are delighted to continue our association with Green Earth Team Gunnar," Knapp said. "We look forward to working with Christian and Frankie at Mid-Ohio, and we hope that both the No. 36 and the No. 99 will be on the podium there."

The Mid-Ohio schedule is crammed full of action, as the American Le Mans Series shares the card with the IZOD IndyCar Series. The Genoa Racing No. 36 is scheduled to participate in practice sessions on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning before qualifying is held at 2:25 p.m. Friday. Its race is slated to get the green flag at 3 p.m. Saturday.

It will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, Aug. 15 on CBS. MotorsTV will broadcast it internationally on Aug. 15 too, with coverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the United Kingdom and 5:30 p.m. Central European Time.
