NEC: Ludwig Oschersleben summary

Three times third in Oschersleben

During the "Grosse Preis der Stadt Magdeburg" on the Oschersleben circuit the fourth round of the Formula Renault Northern European Cup (NEC) was being held. The event took place under warm conditions with a shinning sun and temperatures of 37 degrees. It was the first time of the season that a NEC meeting had three races instead of two.

After the free practice sessions, where Ludwig ended up first and fourth he went on to the qualifying session in which he achieved a slightly disappointing fourth place on the grid. Unfortunately some issues with getting the setup right during the qualifying prevented a better position. The qualifying session was also disturbed by several yellow flag situations.

At the start of the first race of the weekend Ludwig started from fourth position and soon got overtaken by Rogier de Wit (NL), however Ludwig was able to come back to fourth position re-passing De Wit in the second corner. Later in the race he could take the third position thanks to a minor mistake by Jeroen Mul (NL) and finished the race in this position.

Similar to the first race Ludwig also started the second race from fourth on the grid. On the fifth lap Ludwig managed to overtake Mikkel Mac (DK) performing a great pass at the of the main straight. Little later in the race he found himself on the tail of Leroy Stuart (NL) Under pressure from Ludwig Leroy spun his single seater allowing the belgian driver to take the third place. Towards the end of the race Ludwig managed to come on to the tailend of Rogier de Wit's car but it was to late to make a move on him, so Ludwig had to take third place again in the second race.

The result from the first race was used to make up the starting grid for the third and last race of the weekend, so Ludwig started from third position. The positions in front of the field did'nt change at all during the whole race. During the race Ludwig had to defend himself to keep Kevin Mirocha (D) of his back. At the end of the race Ludwig once again stepped on the third step of the podium.

Although it seemed that Ludwig had a subscription on the third place during this NEC event causing Mikkel Mac (DK) who holds the second position in the championship to close in on Ludwig. He continous to hold the first place in the championship by a gap of 17 points.
