Patrick Huisman finishes 3rd in Porsche Supercup.

During the first race in the Porsche Michelin Supercup, Patrick Huisman was able to put his Porsche GT3R on a 3rd position after a stable and well fought race on the Italian circuit of Imola. "Coming from a 7th position at the start, I think it is a great result for me and the DeWALT Racing - JAM Team.

Being back in the Porsche Supercup after an absence of 2 years, in which Patrick drove for Mercedes in the DTM, the old feeling of "makes-cup racing" is coming back again. A 7th position on the grid for today's race was not what Patrick expected before the weekend started, but was the basis for a race towards the podium. "Of course I have to adjust to get used to the car again. Maybe that is the reason why I made some small mistakes in qualifying and the 7th position was the best there was in it for me." Said Patrick after he checked his data logging together with the team's technical manager Jürgen Alzen on Saturday.

After a brilliant start and overtaking Moccia and team-mate Zampedri in the first corner, Patrick finished the first lap on a fourth position. "At the start all cars in front of me went to the right side of the track which made it possible for me to keep my line and be on the inside for turn one as this gave me a better exit position of the corner." At the end of lap 4 Patrick was able to overtake Lechner Jr, after pushing him for more than 3 laps. Patrick: "It was the perfect passing, out braking the young Austrian going into Rivazza".

In the following laps, Patrick tried to close the gap between him and Richitelli and Kaffer who were leading the race. "I pushed hard for about three laps but then I felt that the car started to get a lot of understeer, As I am still lacking some experience with Michelin tyres and I didn't want to ruin my third position I decided to back off a little bit which was possible because had a comfortable lead on Lechner and Moccia. For sure the team and I learned a lot today in every aspect. I can't wait to get behind the wheel again in two weeks time at Barcelona during the Spanish Grand Prix Weekend".
