SCC: Daytona: Tim Hauraney race notes

RISING CANADIAN TALENT FINISHES 12TH IN GRAND-AM CUP RACE

The Number 36 Compass360/Racing BMW Z3 driven by Canadian Tim Hauraney and American Harold Linville finished in 12th position after a hard fought race. The first practice took place on Thursday afternoon; as the car did not get through tech inspection, the team had work to do to get it ready for the next practice. The second practice saw Harold Linville take the reigns of the number 36 machine and doing a fantastic job at that. Linville then qualified the car in 61st position in a field of 75 cars and 31st in class.

The start went well for the Compass360 team, staying out of trouble for the first half of the race. Linville handed the car over to Hauraney in 20th position in class and Hauraney went to work making up eight positions. He maintained a high pace and kept the car out of trouble bringing it home 12th in ST class and 41st over all.

"It's been a great weekend for the team and I unfortunately didn't get to practice on Thursday, but I knew the car was well set up and we achieved great results with it," said Hauraney. "Our Crew Chief Ian Mcquillan and mechanic Aron Cristan did an amazing job all weekend and I must thank them for all their hard work. I haven't been in a racing car since the end of August and I thought it would be hard to find my rhythm again, but once I got into the car it was like riding a bike. I also want to thank my team mate for doing a wonderful job all weekend long. Harold is a very good driver and I enjoyed racing with him."

The Compass360 team is still a relative newcomer to the world of professional racing but one can tell by the way they handled themselves that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with. Team owner Karl Thomson has done an excellent job in assembling a first-class racing team.

Earlier in the week Hauraney was asked what his plans for this coming season are. "As of right now I'm not quite sure where I will be this season, it all depends on finding the right funding to do the right program. I'm still working hard at securing funds for racing. In the next few weeks I will be participating in the YMCAs' building strong kids Half Marathon on the 27th of February. It's for a good cause so I'm glad to be a part of that and hopefully I can put something together and make an announcement in the next few months."
