Miss Bristol in critical condition

Again NASCAR Fans prayers are needed for someone in the Winston Cup family.

A Richlands beauty queen remains in critical condition at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Amanda Ashley Whited, 18, was transported to BRMC by Med Flight following the late Tuesday night accident on Route 609 at Kent's Ridge. Whited, who lost control of her vehicle, crashed down a 50-foot embankment. She was partially ejected from the vehicle. According to a BRMC spokesman, Whited is in critical condition in the surgical and intensive care unit. She was hospitalized with head injuries. The spokesman said family members remain at her side at the Tennessee hospital. Whited was recently crowned the 1997 Miss Food City. She is also the reigning Miss Russell County Fair and Miss Southern Virginia Teen, which is a preliminary pageant to Miss Teen Virginia. She has also held the titles of Miss Red Bud and Miss Richlands High School. A 1996 graduate of RHS, she is enrolled at Southwest Virginia Community College. The accident is still under investigation by Trooper John Santolla.

(BRMC is Bristol Regional Medical Center.)

Lake Speed Sponsorship

I've been asked by some Lake Speed fans on the list to post this request. Lake has signed a temporary sponsorship with Ace Hardware. The key word is temporary. As reported earlier it is to film a Disney series called "Steel Chariots". In an attempt to make this sponsorship permanant, the Lake Speed fans of the list would like for those who would like to see Lake remain in the Winston Cup series for the entire year, to contact Ace Hardware and state something to that effect. They may be contacted by phone or via there website at www.acehardware.com . The phone number is (630) 990-6600. I'm sure this would mean a great deal to Lake as well.

More news a little later.
