Atlanta, Friday, Scott Weis qualifies the Bruce's Super Body Shops Corvette on Friday's first attempt with a 5.09 at 275 MPH. Weis' second outing in his new livery began on the same high note as the previous weekend at Richmond. Having run a near best on his first attempt for the second consecutive weekend.

Weis ended Friday's session in the number 12 spot after a second session abort at the 400 foot mark yielded no improvement on his earlier 5.09. The Wiseguy crew are in the best shape they have been in since acquiring Bruce's Super Body Shops for the remainder of the 2000 season, and are determined to capitalize on it this weekend .

Weis said "The first pass was really sweet, straight and smooth and in the groove. The run was much better than I had hoped, as I felt her start to haze the tires around 1000 feet I shut her down to save it so I was surprised by the 5.09. This lead us to decide to lean on it for the second session figuring in the cooler part of the day track conditions would improve. However, this was not the case the high ambient temperatures resulted in a marginal track if you were a little too aggressive, which as it turned out we were. The car felt pretty good at the hit on that second shot but she hiked up and went to boiling them about 400 feet. So I clicked her off and headed for the barn. With a little luck we'll be able to squeeze it a little harder in Saturday's sessions."

"Our package is really coming together. The Corvette body, Bonnifante's new clutch, and Tootees chassis are allowing us to make our quickest runs to date. Of course, the addition of Bruce's Super Body Shops has allowed us to step up. We intend to work hard to justify Mr. Hutchin's faith in us, and make him glad he invested in our team. He has made our race car a 'Super Vette'."
