Bradshaw & Meyer Dallas preview

ENNIS, Texas - It's official. The 'dynamic duo' of NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster driver Alan 'QuickDraw' Bradshaw and car owner/tuner Randy Meyer will enter this weekend's O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec at the Texas Motorplex just south of Dallas as World Champions. Second place contender Tony Bartone's loss in Darlington, S.C. last weekend clinched the team's bid for this year's World Championship.

Bradshaw, a practicing chiropractor in Odessa, Texas, cites that while the team is excited to enter his home state race as World Champions, the team does not plan to let up. The team's desire to achieve more success with their injected-nitro dragster is partially fueled by the attainment of their World Championship goal and partially by their loss of the Division 5 Championship to David Wells.

"We're thrilled to enter this race as World Champions," said Bradshaw. "But we also have somewhat of a bitter taste in our mouth in losing the Division 5 Championship to David Wells this year. That was an important goal to us. But they have a good team, and in the end they beat us. Dallas is an awesome track, so hopefully we can add another win this weekend for all my friends, fans and family from Texas."

Even with the Championship in hand, the team plans to finish out the year strong.

"So, for the rest of the year we will be looking to play a bit of a role as spoiler," commented Bradshaw. "Even though we have the championship won, we're still going racing, and we want to win as bad as ever. We want more wins, and we want to have the national record by the end of the season. We don't want to let any of the second through fifth place cars get any closer to us. You could almost say that having the championship won will let us be just that much more aggressive."

"Despite being pumped about going out and winning more races, I have to take a step back and be thankful," added Bradshaw. "Randy has done a phenomenal job tuning this hot rod, along with the crew in getting it ready every round. With a crew such as Mary Meyer, Myron Schmidt, Craig Schmidt, Ted Lake, Stacey Lindensmith, and Darren Couture, I could not ask for a more talented bunch who is committed to do whatever it takes regardless of the cost. The team will also add a new sponsor for this weekend's race, Doug Stanley Ford of DeSoto, Texas.

"We're doing a display on Thursday from 5-7 PM at the dealership which is located in DeSoto, Texas on I-35E less than 20 minutes from the Texas Motorplex. As of late, the rumor mill has been buzzing with Bradshaw possibly moving to the fuel ranks next year.

"As far as next year, I have a few irons in the fire regarding Fuel rides in the POWERade series, but make no mistake about it, if those don't materialize, Randy and I will continue our assault on the Alcohol ranks again next year and we'll be even more aggressive next year!"

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars with two sessions. Saturday will feature one final qualifying pass and first round of eliminations. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
