2008 OFF-ROAD WORLD CHAMPIONS® CROWNED
CRANDON, Wisc. -- Professional off-road racing action at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway this past weekend included racing for annual "World Championship" titles. Titles were earned in 12 different classes ranging from high performance off-road trucks to grassroots race divisions.
Crandon Raceway annually presents rings to World Champions. Listed below are World Champions by off-road class. A capacity crowd watched off- road racers compete at the 2008 BorgWarner World Championship Off-Road Races®. The following World Champions hold the title until the gala 40th Anniversary off-road World Championships in 2009:
Ross Hoek, Holland, Mich., 2008 WSORR PRO 2WD pickup truck Crandon World Champion Skyjacker/Herculiner/Raybestos/Goodyear Ford
Chad Hord, Felch, Mich., 2008 WSORR PRO Light Pickup truck Crandon World Champion Boss Snowplow/Amsoil/Kumho Mazda
Johnny Greaves, Abrams, Wisc., 2008 WSORR PRO 4x4 Crandon World Champion Monster/Forest County Potawatomi/Fox/BFG/Toyota 4x4
Tim Lemons, Harrison Township, Mich., 2008 WSORR PRO Super Buggy Crandon World Champion Goodyear/Fox/Toyota
Keith Steele, Madison, Wisc., 2008 WSORR SRT Super Truck Crandon World Champion, Monster/Goodyear Chevrolet
Eric Ruppel, Chetek, Wisc., 2008 SRT Stock pickup truck Crandon World Champion, Phil's/BFG/Ford
Mark Steinhardt, Rhinelander, Wisc., 2008 SRT 1600 Buggy Crandon World Champion, Phil's/BFG
Mike Vanden Heuvel, Appleton, Wisc., 2008 SRT 1600 Light Buggy Crandon World Champion, Toyo Tires
Tim Moeller, Hastings, Minn., 2008 SRT Formula 4x4 Crandon World Champion, Goodyear Ford
Grassroots World Champions were Matt Dale, Skandia, Mich., for the Enduro class in a Ford and Rob Weiland, Hortonville, Wisc., won Classix in a Chevrolet. Both won the special title on Goodyear tires.
Winner of the 14th annual BorgWarner Shootout also won a $500 World Championship ring and in excess of $25,000 in cash and prizes:
