Rain Postpones Bob Weikert Memorial to June 14th
PORT ROYAL, PA (5-12-07) The O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions could schedule a race in the middle of the desert in a drought and it would find a way to rain on race day. Once again, the All Star series was forced to cancel and reschedule due to heavy rains that rolled in over the mountains of Central PA. The heaviest downpour fell as the pit gates were set to open around 4 pm. The rain was heavy, but brief and the weather radar showed a chance to salvage the night. However, as the track crew worked diligently to maintain control of the track surface, the skies opened up once again. With several hundred fans still rolling through the gates as the rain fell, the Port Royal Speedway staff made an effort to make sure they got to see a race. As the evening's schedule was pushed back for a late start, the track crew circled round and round, trying to dry the track. Finally, Mother Nature made a decision around 8 pm that there would be no motors fired at Port Royal tonight as the rain fell for a third time. The event has been rescheduled in conjunction with the All Stars return trip to Posse Territory in mid-June. The Bob Weikert Memorial will be run on Thursday June 14th, adding to the two day show already planned for Williams Grove and Lincoln on June 15th and 16th.
Join the All Stars on Sunday May 13th as the series heads to Bedford Speedway to battle the ever so tough PA Posse on neutral ground. A dozen All Star teams made the trip to Central PA and with all the local talent that will be on hand for Sunday, it should be an incredible show for the fans.
