Angelette Aces ASCS Gulf South Fast Trax Triumph

CHATHAM, Lou. (September 5, 2004) - Kelly Angelette notched his first Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region feature triumph of the season by topping Sunday night's 25-lap feature at Fast Trax Speedway.

Angelette, the two-time and defending series champion, became the ninth different winner through ten ASCS Gulf South Region events contested thus far in 2004 by notching a wire-to-wire victory.

Angelette was chased to the line by championship contender Chris Sweeney, with Jerry Bell, Jimmy Brooks and Greg Rilat rounding out the top five. Completing the top ten were Ray Allen Kulhanek, Stephen Chevallier, Skip Wilson, Todd Johnson and Charlie Brown.

Brooks, Rilat, Angelette and Bell claimed heat race victories for the 28-car field, with Shane Morgan topping the B Main.

With a half dozen events remaining, Rilat and Sweeney are knotted atop the series championship points chase with Bell trailing the duo by a scant six-point margin.
