Pendleton, Ind. (April 14, 2003) -- Scoring his initial victory of the 2003 season and 11th of his career, Kevin Cywinski took over the ASA points lead from Butch Miller. The No. 1 Great Clips/SK Tools/Ranger Boats Chevrolet took the lead on the 158th of 250 laps Saturday night at Houston Motor Speedway, and Cywinski held off Robbie Pyle and a host of challengers over the final 92 laps to win the ASA Racing Series Texas 250.

Three-time champion Butch Miller is second in points, 28 markers out of the top spot. Miller followed up his season-opening Jani-King 200 victory at USA International Speedway with a fifth-place finish at Houston.

Robbie Pyle ranks third in the standings after two of 17 events. Driving the No. 63 CITGO car from Wal Tom Racing, Pyle trails Cywinski by 46 points. Pyle has opened the season with two consecutive top-10 finishes, his best coming Saturday night at Houston. The runner-up finish was his best since 2001 when he won his first ASA event at Madison International Speedway.

$50,000 rookie candidate Travis Kittleson moved to fourth position, with his second top-10 finish. The Merritt Island, Fla., competitor placed eighth at Houston and claimed the lead in the rookie standings.

Georgia's Mike Garvey climbed to fifth in ASA driver points after crossing the line fourth at the .375-mile Houston Motor Speedway. Garvey led the initial 15 circuits of the Texas 250, but he was involved in the first of 14 cautions during the Texas 250, forcing an early pit stop. Garvey is 81 points out of first place.

The third event of the 2003 ASA Racing Series is on tap for Saturday, April 19 at Concord Motorsport Park in Concord, N.C. The BFGoodrich Tires 250 takes the green flag at 9 p.m. (Eastern) and will be telecast live on SPEED CHANNEL.
