(June 12, 2001) Round four of the BF Goodrich Tires Trans Am Series is making its way to the streets of Belle Isle, Detroit this Saturday, June 16, 2001. The weekend activities will include the 42 lap, 99.162 mile Trans Am event on Saturday, while the CART FedEx Series will run on Sunday.

The Motorcity 100 presented by Johnson Controls will be the first of three Trans Am events to be broadcast by CBS Sports. The Grand Prix of Cleveland, airing July 1, 2001, and the Wine Country 100 from Sears Point will be broadcast live on July 21, 2001, on CBS.

Soenen Motorsports, based in Livonia, MI, has a particular interest in this race, as it is a hometown event for the team. Piloting the #58 Trenton Forging/Soenen Motorsport Mustang Cobra will be Stu Hayner of Yorba Linda, CA.

Located in Trenton, Michigan, Trenton Forging Company, primary sponsor of #the 58 Mustang Cobra driven by Hayner, is a leading producer of custom impression die forgings to a wide variety of industries. Trenton was founded in 1967 to primarily produce specialty forgings, the company was reborn in 1989 to become a world class supplier of forged components for the commercial market. "We are very excited to be a part of Soenen Motorsports and the 2001 BF Goodrich Tires Trans Am Series, as well as the Motorcity 100 presented by Johnson Controls. We look forward to a strong run this weekend!" states David Moxlow, President of Trenton Forging.

Rockland Standard Gear, Rockland County, New York is the co-sponsor of this hot rod mustang. RSG remanufactures and distributes standard transmissions and transfer cases to the transmission repair industry as well as performance transmissions for the racing community. Mike Weinberg, President of RSG, has been a supporter of Stuart for the past three years. "This started out as a one time deal, until I found out just how much exposure we were getting from the Trans-Am Series", Mike says. "Our business has grown as a direct result of our sponsorship with Stuart."

The Motorcity 100 from Belle Isle, Detroit, will commence on Saturday, June 16 at 4pm, and will be broadcast on CBS, Sunday, June 17th at 5pm EST.
