FF: Hunsaker takes 2002 title

Hunsaker takes Irwindale finale & USAC Ford Focus Title.

Todd Hunsaker of Chino Hills, Calif. scored his sixth victory of the campaign Thursday night at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway to lock up the 2002 USAC Ford Focus Midget Car driving title.

Hunsaker took the lead from Tyler Brown on the 19th lap and led the final two circuits to win the 20-lapper on Irwindale's 1/3-mile oval. Brown finished second after leading 11 laps, while Ray Neveau, Walt Johnson and Wayne McCormick rounded out the "top-five." Steve Davis led the first seven laps of the race but ended up 11th.

Hunsaker, who was also the night's fastest qualifier, finished with a 101-point advantage over J.J. Ercse, who finished 15th at Irwindale.
