3 new venues spice Western Sprint slate.
New venues will spice USAC's 2004 Western Sprint Car Series schedule, which again includes the second season of Port-O-Call Rocky Mountain Sprint Car competition at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Michael Lewis of Noblesville, Ind. is the defending champion of the Valvoline Western Series, which opens April 24 at Madera (Calif.) Speedway, while Jim Waters of Salt Lake City, Utah is the defending titlist in the Port-O-Call Rocky Mountain Series, which begins May 8 in the Utah capital.
New venues for the Valvoline Western Series include Shasta Speedway in Anderson, Calif., South Sound Speedway in Tenino, Wash. and Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash.
The July 3-4 event at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, Colo. will combine the Valvoline National and Western Sprint Car Series, while races at Salt Lake City, Utah July 24 and September 11 will again afford points toward both the Valvoline Western and Port-O-Call Rocky Mountain championships.
