Colin Edwards (Castrol Honda-Michelin) won the final race of the 2000 season to add to his title of new World Superbike champion.

Edwards was in dominant form in the 13th and final round of the year at Brands Hatch, UK on Sunday. The 26-year-old from Conroe, Texas looked set for victory in an opening race which started in wet but drying conditions.

Edwards took advantage of Michelin cut slick tyres front and rear - expecting to be off the pace in the early stages. Having moved from 15th place to fourth he had the leaders in sight with and looked set for victory until he crashed with little more than two laps to go.

That left wild card rider John Reynolds to take a debut win with Troy Bayliss (Infostrada-Michelin) second and another wild card, Chris Walker third. Pole position rider Neil Hodgson took fourth with Juan Borja (Infostrada Ducati-Michelin) fifth.

Edwards bounced back to score a dominant victory - his eighth of the season - in the second race of the day, crossing the line one second ahead of Pier-Francesco Chili with Troy Corser third on the factory Aprilia.

German Yamaha rider Jorg Teuchert won the world Supersport championship with second place in Sunday's 23-lap final round at Brands Hatch. Australian Karl Muggeridge won the race while James Whitham (Belgarda Yamaha-Michelin Pilot) took third place.

Luckless Paolo Casoli (Infostrada Ducati-Michelin Pilot) needed fourth place to clinch the title but could only take fifth palce on the day.
