FIRST IMPRESSIONS AT LIME ROCK

The new surface at Lime Rock Park saw its first major action earlier today with the American Le Mans Series holding an hour-long practice session on the new 1.51-mile, 10-turn circuit. A number of drivers gave their feedback following the session.

"The track surface is certainly smoother and provides more grip. It is too tight though with the slower cars out there. It's almost like driving a street circuit. But this is going to turn out to be a good race."

"The new surface is a lot smoother. The new first chicane is great, but the second one is really tight especially because the GT2 cars have to turn in so much differently. It is a different line than the LMP cars. It's a change but I like it."

"I actually quite like this track. Most of the bumps are gone with the new surface. It's still very tight, but Lime Rock always has been. I enjoy the new layout."

The second practice session is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. ET today with qualifying immediately to follow. Saturday's two-hour, 45-minute race will get the green flag at 2:05 p.m. ET with live coverage on XM Channel 144 and americanlemans.com. SPEED will air the race from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 13.
