It's a magical ride for newcomers, veterans

Whether competing for the first time or returning after a lengthy absence, Road America provides drivers in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón a special experience. We asked a few drivers entered in this weekend's American Le Mans Series powered by eStar to give a few early impressions of America's premier road course.

Vic Rice, Velox Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (GTC)

"The last time I competed with the American Le Mans Series was in 2003. Road America has still a beautiful, long flowing track. The only thing that is missing from last time is one bridge (referring to the bridge coming out of Canada Corner). I'm excited to have the chance to race in the ALMS again. I couldn't say no."

Frankie Montecalvo, Genoa Racing ORECA FLM09 (LMPC)

"It's my first time here ever; Friday afternoon I did my first laps here. It's fun! I was taking it slow and trying to learn the track. So far it's fast and really fun. I like the elevation changes and it has lots of high- speed, fun corners. It's going to be fun. This is my first trip to Wisconsin too. I haven't even had a brat yet, but everyone says they're amazing so I'm going to go get one!"

Timo Bernhard, Muscle Milk Team CytoSport Porsche RS Spyder (LMP)

"The first lap was very special. To be back in my old 'home office' brought back a lot of memories. The car is very nice to drive but for the first couple of laps I had to familiarize myself with the Porsche RS Spyder again. Towards the end of the session I really felt great again in the car. By the first outing already we started to work on the setup, and I think we are right in the window. There are still some things to work on but so far it looks promising. I'm very happy."

Round 7 of the 2010 championship is the American Le Mans Series powered by eStar at 2:05 p.m. CT on Sunday, August 22 from Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.
