PICKERINGTON, Ohio - AMA Pro Racing has announced today the top National Numbers for 2003 AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross competitors. Noteworthy in the list this year is that both current national champions, Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart Jr., will not be wearing No. 1. Carmichael will continue to use his trademark No. 4, and James Stewart will again carry No. 259.

The National Number list is determined based on five criteria. Current National Champions can carry No. 1. Former National Champions can choose numbers 2-9. Riders ranked in the top-10 in combined Supercross and Motocross points can choose a Career Number from 10-999 (as indicated below). Riders outside the top-10 in combined points are assigned consecutive numbers through 99 based on year-end points. And riders outside the top-99 can keep their 2002 racing numbers by renewing their AMA Pro Racing licenses for the 2003 season before Nov. 20.

Visit USMotocross.com for the complete list of National Numbers as they are assigned after the Nov. 20 deadline. <pre> 2003 AMA Supercross/Motocross National Numbers
