HRH The Duke of York visits Charouz Racing System

LMS: His Royal Highness The Duke of York taking a look at the Charouz Racing System prototype

A prototype LMP1 powered by Aston Martin of the Charouz Racing System caught an eye of Prince Andrew, His Royal Highness The Duke of York. The meeting took place in the Lola Cars headquarters where the car classified as B06/80 LMP1 Coupe was built. The renowned producer of racing cars celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this year and during the celebrations they were honoured by a member of the British Royal Family.

Stefan Mucke of the Team racers was present, Jan Charouz was taking exams at the University of London. In British Huntingdon, the seat of the Lola Cars, not only employees of the Lola Cars co-operating with the Charouz Racing System and Aston Martin Racing were expecting such an exceptional visitor. Prince Andrew greeted also the crowd of pupils at the local St. Peter School.

"It was such a kind meeting. Our team showed a few simulated pit-stops," says Stefan Mucke. With his colleague Jan Charouz they were successful at a few remarkable races of Le Mans Series. Above all, the second place at Silverstone and the third place at Barcelona. "I am glad people did enjoy the way we showed our car. I managed to spin the wheels even on such a small spot so much that there were black smudges on the pavement ."

Jan, who could not arrive at the meeting due to his studies this week, participated in the fiftieth anniversary of the famous Lola already in June. He came to Huntingdon to give an interview for a documentary film. He is starring there next to the legends such as Sir Jackie Stewart, John Surtees, Damon Hill or Mario and Michael Andretti. Beside the prototype of the Czech Team The Duke of York also took a view of other cars and of the Lola Group company. Its owner Martin Birrane says afterwards: "It was a privilege to introduce His Royal Highness The Duke of York to our latest technical capabilities and the talented team that we can draw upon here in Huntingdon. The Duke of York provides an important role for companies like Lola, as we continue to gain international recognition and keep British industry at the forefront of leading edge technology. To welcome a member of the Royal family to be a part of our 50th anniversary celebration was a great honour for everyone involved with Lola.."

Also the principal of the Charouz Racing System Team reveres precious moments of the seventh of October. "It is, of course, a great honour for our stable. Photographs and memories will always have a special place in our team's history," said Antonin Charouz.

Lola Cars 50th Anniversary celebrations continue on Sunday 12th October when a parade of up to 16 Lola designs drive through the streets of Huntingdon, with the cars forming a spectacular 'paddock' in the town's historic market square.
