Formula Renault 3.5 Series welcomes 13th team

The Organizing Committee of the World Series by Renault is pleased to announce the arrival of a thirteenth team in Formula Renault 3.5 Series, as it welcomes of the Italian BVM Target team for the forthcoming season. The aim of the team led by Giuseppe Mazzotti, Giovanni Minardi and Roberto Venieri in partnership with the Italian motorsport federation, the CDAI, is to create a pathway which allows young Italian talent to reach the highest level of the sport, Formula 1.

Along with Junior Lotus Racing, ISR, KMP Racing and FHV Interwetten.com in 2010, the new BVM Target team joins the field in Formula Renault 3.5 Series for the 2011 season. There are now 13 teams and 26 cars ready to line up on the starting grid of the World Series by Renault's premier class next year.

The arrival of BVM Target marks the return of the Italian team to Formula Renault 3.5 Series. The team, managed by Giuseppe Mazzotti, founder of the BVM Racing team, Giovanni Minardi, son of Giancarlo Minardi and manager of several drivers, and Roberto Venieri, founder of Target Racing, makes its debut in Colelctive Testing at Barcelona on October 12 and 13. Daniel Zampierei ad Mirko Bortolotti are ready to take the wheel of the two new single-seaters assembled in the Alpine plant in Dieppe, France.

In partnership with the Italian motorsport federation, the CSAI, BVM Team's goal will be to set up a training programme for young Italian drivers. BVM Target, which already competes in Italian Formula 3, is also hoping to introduce Italian Formula 3 drivers to Formula Renault 3.5 Series. In the longer term, the CSAI and BVM Team hope to enable the most talented to enter the world of Formula 1, in which only one Italian driver currently races.

Renault Sport Technologies and the Organizing Committee of the World Series by Renault are delighted to welcome this new team to Formula Renault 3.5 Series. The creation of this new source of Italian talent for Formula Renault 3.5 Series is yet more evidence of the Category's importance as a springboard into the very highest level of motorsport.
