AUSF3: Team BRM ready for 2005 season

Expanded team BRM 'All Blacks' attack targets titles in 2005.

ADELAIDE (Wednesday, Jan 19 2005.) South Australian Formula 3 outfit team BRM may need to consider a change of corporate colours from Blue to Black for 2005, after today announcing that two New Zealand drivers will help lead the team's quest to take back-to-back Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 championships this season.

Teenagers Nic Jordan and Marc Williams will be aiming to have more success than the famous New Zealand rugby team in 2005, by aiming to take both the outright championship and trophy class titles respectively this year.

Team BRM has already achieved such a feat - taking both tiles with Karl Reindler and Nic Jordan behind the wheels of the teams' Dallara's last year - but are determined to back it up with more success in the new season.

After crushing his opposition in Trophy Class last year Jordan will take aim at a different prize in 2005 -- the coveted CAMS Gold Star award. In the second year of a two-year plan to clinch the Australian title, the 16-year-old Kiwi will take to the track driving the same Dallara F301 Speiss Opel that clinched the championship last year for the team.

Team BRM will be hoping to unearth the "next Nic Jordan" with new signing Marc Williams, who will drive the same Dallara F398 Speiss that Jordan used to great effect in 2004. Williams hails from the same area as Jordan and has competed successfully in similar development categories that his new teammate succeeded in before joining BRM at the beginning of last year.

Team owner Bronte Rundle said that he was confident the two young Kiwis would give BRM a good chance at continuing its recent run of success.

"We have put in place a driver line up which will hopefully see us win our first back to back Australian Formula 3 titles, after winning it in 2002 and 2004," Rundle said. "It's great to have Nic back on board and in a championship class car for this season. I have no doubts that he will be able to challenge for the Gold Star award this season."

"We are also excited to have Marc driving with us this season. We will work with him closely to help him come to grips with the F3 car, but if what we have heard about him is true, then he should prove to be highly competitive in the Trophy Class competition."

Team BRM will announce details for its third car, and information regarding it's expanded program at the Australian Grand Prix support races within the next few days.

The opening round of the 2005 Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 championship will be held at Goulburn's Wakefield Park Raceway on the 26th and 27th of February.
