Motaworld boss declares Kart champion 'stunning'

Ollie Millroy had his first run in a Formula BMW single-seater when he successfully completed around 80 laps of the Mallory Park circuit on Wednesday. The reigning British Super 1 ICA Kart Champion piloted one of the cars of Motaworld Racing as he continues to evaluate his options for 2008, posting the quickest time ever around the Leicestershire circuit for the Kent-based outfit.

"I really enjoyed it," said the Claygate teenager. "The car was really good to drive in the wet, even better than karts. What we are trying to decide is whether to go the FRenault route or FBMW when I race cars next year. The BMW is not as powerful as the Renault but they have more grip and are easier to drive."

Last year's Winter Cup winner also impressed Motaworld Team Principal Alan Waite with the speed in which he settled in to the junior racing car on his very first outing. "He adapted well to the car, very well actually, even though the weather was against us, in fact in the wet, he was stunning".

"We didn't have much running in the dry, only about ten minutes, but he was the quickest driver we've had out there at Mallory. Considering it was his first time in the car, he settled in really quickly and looked good straight away. In both dry and wet conditions. He looks very much at home in a racing car and he's definitely a driver we'd love to run next season."

Ollie will continue to test both FRenault and FBMW ahead of his future career, and is due to take the BMW licensing course in Valencia next week, followed by a test in FRenault with a top team in Europe.

"Although I am now busy testing cars every week I am also considering entering the world karting championship in September, in Belgium, with a top works team. This will possibly be my last race in karts before we make a final move into cars."

"Both Formula Renault and Formula BMW offer great championships for 2008 and they have a lot to offer an up and coming driver. Both cars are great to drive, but in different ways and once we have decided which championship and team is best for me I will concentrate on that formula only. Until then I shall just keep on testing. If I could I would be out every day, I love it".
