Circuit: 4.197 kms. Crowd: 108,000 (3-day) Weather: Sunny/cloudy 18 C.

Fighting fourth for Chiarello.

Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Riccardo Chiarello took a hard fought-for fourth place in the Superstock 1000 race at Brands Hatch today, but it might have a podium if he had been able to get off the line with the leaders at the start of the 15-lapper. Instead, he found himself having to get past Vankeymeulen (Yamaha) and Martinez (Yamaha), before he could attack the leaders. By the time he moved into fourth, it was too late to make a charge for the podium. Kenan Sofuoglu (Yamaha) comfortably won the race, over five seconds ahead of Luca Scassa (Yamaha), with third going to Alessandro Polita (Suzuki).

Riccardo Chiarello - 4th
My start was not so good and that affected the whole race really. I had a big fight with a couple of other riders and when I did get past them, it was too late to catch the top three. Brands Hatch is the kind of track where you can go fast if you have a clear track ahead of you, but I didn't get that when I wanted, so fourth was all I could manage. I am sort of satisfied, but also not very happy.

Xavi takes a tough fourth despite problems.

Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider suffered with front end problems today at Brands Hatch, but still managed to take a superb fourth place. He was passed by Antonelli (Kawasaki) one lap from the end, but was determined not to finish fifth. Instead, he charged past the Italian and then hung on to reclaim fourth place. Claudio Corti (Yamaha) won the 12-lapper - his fourth win of the season - with Nicolo Canepa (Kawasaki) second. Third was Maxime Berger (Honda), ahead of Xavi.

Xavier Simeon - 4th
I had some front end problems in the race, but I was determined to get the best result I could. When Antonelli came past one lap from the end, I didn't want fifth place, so I attacked as hard as I could and when I passed him, I was very happy. I made some little mistakes early on the race, but I don't think it affected my result today because the lead trio were too far ahead.

Results
1 Corti, 2 Canepa, 3 Berger, 4 Simeon (Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra), 5 Antonelli, 6 Wimbauer Points 1: Corti 136, 2 Tiberio 110, 3 Canepa 85, 4 Berger 58, 5 Simeon (Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra) 40, 6 Antonelli 34,
