In the first season, Mahindra worked with British single-seater powerhouse Carlin to run its quartet of Spark-Renaults, going on to finish eighth in the teams’ championship.

For the 2015/16 season, the Indian-owned team has decided to switch partners to run its Spark-Mahindra M2Electro powertrain.

“We are pleased to announce Campos Racing as a service provider to Mahindra Racing for the 2015/16 season,” Mahindra’s team principal Dilbagh Gill said.

“Both Mahindra and Campos Racing enter this partnership with a wealth of knowledge and experience from the first season.

“We have a clear mandate to maximise the performance of the M2Electro and we are targeting top results.”

Last season Campos partnered with the NEXTEV TCR team, whose driver Nelson Piquet Jr was crowned champion. Team boss Adrian Campos welcomed Mahindra as his operation's second partner for the 2015/16 season.

The ex-Minardi F1 racer said: “To be approached by a team with the ambition of Mahindra Racing proves that we have earned a strong reputation in the Formula E paddock.

“Partnering two teams this year, we will approach the second with as much drive and rigour as we did in the first season.”

Specifics of the partnership

Campos, together with Mahindra’s own personnel, will run the team as a joint venture.

“Mahindra has put together a team over the last few months that will directly lead this project with services being provided through Campos,” added Gill.

“This new relationship is very different from the last year, as the leadership of the team is being provided by Mahindra.”

While Campos will continue its partnership with NEXTEV TCR team, they will work alongside the Mahindra engineers in the second season.

“We are here to provide the skills and expertise to get the best out of both packages,” said Campos.

“Our Campos Racing staff is working together with dedicated Mahindra Racing engineers and this hybrid team approach has proved very beneficial in the testing of the M2Electro.”

The partnership will not only be limited to Formula E but also other projects: “This is a long term partnership which will potentially develop projects outside Formula E,” Gill revealed.

“Mahindra will provide the technical lead and Campos will provide its expertise in race engineering.”

Gill declined to comment on the driver line-up, although Adam Carroll, Giedo van der Garde, Giorgio Pantano and Antonio Felix da Costa have all tested for Mahindra in Spain last month.
