Two weeks ago marked the first time this season that Eric Norris and the Jani-King Prolong team failed to finish a NASCAR Winston West Series event. An engine failure cost them a solid finish and four positions in the point standings. So to say it was a bad day may be an understatement, but to speak with Norris and his team one would think they had just won. This team enters the inaugural event at Rocky Mountain Raceway overflowing with confidence that they are on the verge of putting a month long bad luck streak behind them. "We were up here testing a little over a month ago and we were fast right off the truck," said Norris. "So I think we should be pretty good this weekend if we can just get rid of this bad luck streak. To be honest, I don't think anything else can happen to us." The other good thing about entering a new facility is the fact the team is on an even playing field with their fellow racers. "It helps us when we visit a new track for the series because it puts us on level ground with the teams and drivers that have a little more experience than I or the team has," said Norris. "This is a pretty neat track. I think it has just enough banking that the cars can race on it but maybe it won't turn into a demolition like some short tracks we see. We're running the same car we ran at Monroe earlier this year. It's a T-bird body but it's a good car for this track. We'll just get in there and rough it up like the rest of the competitors and see how things turn out." If the team can get back to the level of performance they had during the middle of the season it should be no problem for them to move up and contend for a top ten or even a top five in the final points standings. "We need to get back in the top ten in points and that will take a good finish," said Norris. "So that is what we are shooting for this weekend." Norris and the Jani-King team currently sit in the 12th position in the NASCAR Winston West Series Points Standings. However they are only one point out of tenth and 130 points out of fifth.
