Daytona: TRV to Start Sixth

TRV Motorsport's Schroeder and Volk To Start Sixth Thursday Night in Paul Revere 250 at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., June 28 - Toledo, Ohio's TRV Motorsport team and drivers Jeret Schroeder and Tom Volk are at Daytona International Speedway for the 21st running of the revived Paul Revere 250 Thursday night. This is the first time the event has been sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association, and the first time the holiday classic has been held since 1986. Throughout its history the race has been an SCCA sports car race, a NASCAR Grand American event, an IMSA Camel GT race, an SCCA Trans-Am race and even a CCS motorcycle race.

Historically the Paul Revere 250 started at midnight, in keeping with its namesake's famous ride. This year the 70-lap race will start 30 minutes after first-round qualifying ends for the Pepsi 400 NASCAR Winston Cup race. The best bet estimates that will be around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, which is the same time that the race's live coverage begins on Speedvision.

Most history books don't relate whether Revere had to deal with any rain or not, but that's just what faced the 46 teams on hand at Daytona Wednesday for practice and qualifying. Eventually qualifying was rained out Wednesday night, so Schroeder and Volk's Supreme Exhaust System Products/Racer Parts Wholesale Riley & Scott Chevy will start sixth tomorrow night by virtue of Schroeder posting the sixth-fastest time in practice earlier in the day. The Vineland, N.J. driver did so at an average speed of 119.157 mph.

"The car was loose, but we made some changes during the dinner hour which should help," Schroeder said. "Since qualifying was rained out we just won't know until the race starts though."
