Callaway Competition to defend FIA GT3 driver championship with strong driver line up

Callaway Competition is ready to defend the FIA GT3 driver championship with two strong driver pairings. The first race of this years FIA GT3- European championship is held on 02.05 at Silverstone (UK). The two Callaway Competition-Corvette Z06.R GT3 "Made in Leingarten" will be driven by defending European champion Arnaud Peyroles (France) along with 2007 runner up Jurgen von Gartzen (Germany), while the second Corvette will be shared by GT-specialist Wolfgang Kaufmann (Germany) along with Luca Moro (Netherlands).

Callaway Competition already had a perfect start into the 2009 season. Luca Ludwig/Marc Hennerici took a double victory in the opening round of the highly competitive German ADAC GT Masters at Oschersleben. On the very same weekend, Jeroen Bleekemolen won the inaugural race of the Dutch GT4 Championship at Zandvoort with a Callaway built Corvette C6- GT4. Undoubtedly Callaway is willing to carry this momentum to Silverstone.

With new manufacturers like Audi and BMW-Alpina entering the GT3-scene, competition in the FIA GT3 European championship gets closer. For the twelve race championship on six different tracks are no less then 42 cars of twelve different manufacturers entered. Callaway Competition is well prepared for the season after further improvements of the highly successful Corvette GT3-machine in the off-season. Less weight, which goes along with reduced engine power due to a smaller air restrictor, are the most significant developments for the 2009 season.

With defending European Champion Arnaud Peyroles and Jurgen von Gartzen, Callaway Competition can count on two of the most successful GT3-drivers in the European championship's recent past. Experienced German Wolfgang Kaufmann, along with partner Luca Moro, is the latest addition to the Callaway driver squad and will start his first race in the Callaway Competition-Corvette at Silverstone: "The GT3-Version of the Corvette Z06 built by Ernst Wohr's Callaway Competition Teams is a sensational good car. I can't wait for the season to start and I'm ready to take on the challenge to fight for victories and podiums in the FIA GT3 European championship along with my team mate Luca Moro and Callaway Competition."
