ALEX LLOYD COMPLETED A ONE-DAY TEST WITH NEWMAN/HAAS/LANIGAN RACING IN PREPARATION FOR THE INDYCAR SERIES SEASON FINALE AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY
HOMESTEAD, Fla. (October 1, 2009) -- Alex Lloyd completed a successful one-day test with Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing last night at the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway oval in preparation for the 2009 IndyCar Series season finale on October 10. Lloyd completed over 200 trouble-free miles in the No. 40202 HER Energy Dallara-Honda-Firestone entry with a best lap speed average of 211.4 mph.
"Today was a good day; we accomplished all of the miles we wanted to run and got plenty of laps in," said Lloyd, 24. "The main point of the day was to get myself comfortable in the car and get a good working relationship going with the team. The test went good and I think we all work well together. I think we had a good baseline for the car at the end of the day. I think we certainly proved that and the speed was pretty good. We have a good starting point for the race so I think we're all feeling pretty confident going forward. I can't wait to get back for the race."
The Firestone Indy 300 will mark the third IndyCar Series race of his career as well as the first with NHLR and first on a track other than the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He has competed on the Homestead track one other time, in 2007 during his championship winning season in the Firestone Indy Lights Series where he started second and won the event. Lloyd will team with McDonald's driver Graham Rahal, who is in his third season with NHLR, for the event.
