CIK: Australian champinship season wrapup

16 October, 2003 - The Champions of the 2003 Dunlop Australian CIK Karting Championship will be rewarded this Sunday night at the Presentation Dinner to be held at the Alex Popexcu Room, Kardinia Park, Geelong.

In some last minute arrangements Media Manager, Lee Hanatschek has arranged for several prizes to reward the Champions of 2003.

With the support of Matt Payne from Futureracers Pty Ltd the Champion of two senior classes will receive a test aboard one of the "pocket rockets" that are Futureracers.

The test consists of three sessions a two lap familiarisation behind a pace vehicle, before being given two sessions of around five laps. The day is conducted under the guidance of Team Brock Driving Life personnel who will provide specific briefings on how to drive the car to each driver on hand.

"We recognise that the value of karting in being an important ingredient to the success of our category. The team at Future racers are delighted to be able to provide a link between karting and further levels of Motorsport," commented Payne. "The Australian karting scene will be essential to the marketing of our newly born category."

With the test drivers in the Futureracers having to be 17-years of age the victor in the elite junior class, Junior Intercontinental A will receive a drive aboard an Anglo Australian Motorsports Formula Ford at Wakefield Park.

"These guys are the elite drivers in junior karting and it would be great to help them get a taste of Formula Ford action," said Tim Beale of Anglo Motorsports during the week.

Along with the drives as mentioned above prizes there has also been four double passes to the 2004 Clipsal 500 courtesy of Mike Drewer and the SA Motorsport Board. "Mike has always been a good supporter of karting and I thank him for supporting the 2003 Australian CIK Championship," says Hanatschek.

These double passes will be awarded to the second placed driver in each of the four Championship classes.

In addition to the Championship Awards the Mechanic's of the year will receive the Beta Tools Mechanic of the Year award on Sunday night.

For the first time in the 11-year-history of the Series the Team of the Award will be presented along with the Dunlop Driver's Driver of the Year where each driver in the Championship will vote on who they believe is their most respected driver in the series. The Driver's driver will receive a Dunlop Rally Jacket along an immaculate looking trophy from Glass Art.
