Atkinson Aces Roebling Road

10.07.2008 - Courtney Atkinson, junior standout driver, continued her dominance of the Junior Enduro and Sprint divisions of the Dunlop Tire National Road Racing Series driven by Mazda. She mastered the long sweeping turns of Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah, GA. The next to last event on the eight-race national schedule marked the fourth national in a row that the young Wisconsin-based driver has earned victories.

The Southern Kart Club hosted event went off without a glitch. All who were present enjoyed seasonal brisk mornings and wonderfully bright and sunny mild afternoons. Despite a looming economy and gas shortages across the southeastern US, 300 die-hard road racers and national points chasers made it out for a weekend of exciting on-track action.

Several other drivers also took home multiple silver and marble first place trophies for their wins over the weekend. Aleks Gregory earned three, winning the Piston Port Can Sprint 340 & 360 and WKA Sprint 2, while Chad Dokken swept the CIK 125 Shifter races and the Saturday TAG feature. Brian Fisher, Danny Miller, Jerred Hembree, Pierre Huang, Scott Buerman, Chuck Gafrarar & Derek Billingsly all took home a pair of trophies for their double wins. In addition, Vintage kart drivers from around the south supported the event, and put on a great showing each afternoon giving new karters the opportunity to see how it all started "back in the good 'ole days".

WKA would like to offer a special thanks to the Southern Kart Club and the event supporters for an exciting weekend in the Georgia low country.

The table is now set for a great season-finale at Road Atlanta the weekend of October 31 -- November 2. With points' battles on the line and the overall appeal of the exciting venue, this event will be a must-see. Make your plans today to attend.
