WKA: Robinson Speed Shop open house

PITTSVILLE, MD- Hundreds of Karting enthusiasts from around the northeast attended an open house at Robinson Speed Shop Saturday February 16 to get a look at the latest in karting equipment and talk to industry leaders. Harrill Wiggins of Phantom Racing Chassis who was on hand to discuss chassis setup and the G-Man himself Graham D. Glassman was there showing customers his latest line of bodywork.

"We're here to support Ronnie Robinson," said Wiggins, of China Grove, NC, "We've talked to a lot of customers and a variety of racers from the Gold Cup, Dirt and Pavement Series and we brought Ronnie up a lot of stuff and he's been busy all day."

"This is an excellent opportunity to talk to tons of customers and shown off the new #8 bodywork which is really aerodynamic," said Glassman. "This has been an excellent open house.

We've made a lot of new friends and talked to a lot of old friends and there's just been tons of people here and it's been a great show."

Defending 2001 WKA national Horstman Gold Cup Super Stock champion Matt Jester was there getting ready for the up coming season opener the I Performance Nationals which are scheduled for March 1-3 at Lowe' Motor Speedway.

"We got tires and some other things for the Charlotte Gold Cup," said Jester who also earned a pair of titles in the Maryland Sprint Divisional.

Two double champions from the Delaware Dirt Divisional series were there getting ready for their 2002 season. Robinson Speed Shop Team Driver Cameron Maddox who swept Junior Sportsman-1 Lite and Heavy and fellow team driver RJ Robinson who took Stock Medium and Lite.

"It takes focus and concentration to win two championships," explained Maddox, a 9-year-old Delmar, MD based Robinson Speed Shop powered Phantom kart pilot, who earned two wins in each class backed up by second and third place finishes for the titles.

Robinson credited, " A lot of work and a lot of strength," for winning two titles. "I was hard to jump from junior classes to adult classes and it took strong engines to win," added Robinson who also pilots Phantom karts.

Ronnie Robinson, who co-owns Robinson Speed Shop with his wife Becky, was pleased with the show. "It's looking good today," he said with a smile. "We're seeing a lot of new and regular customers. Lots of people are interested in the new Phantom chassis and the new G-Man bodywork and both companies are well represented."
