ARDC CARQUEST Midgets to Visit Flemington Four Times in '99

FLAGTOWN, N.J., Jan. 7 - The American Racing Drivers Club (ARDC) CARQUEST Midget Series has four dates set in 1999 at the historic Flemington Fair Speedway in Flemington, N.J.: May 22, June 19, July 24 and Sept. 5.

A regular show consisting of heats and a feature on the five-eighths mile paved oval is scheduled for Saturday night, May 22.

Saturday night, June 19 is the date set for a 33-lap Mini-Indy race co-sanctioned with the Northeastern Midget Assn. (NEMA).

Another regular ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series race is on the docket for Saturday, July 24. If the Mini-Indy should be rained out on June 19, it would be pushed to the July 24 date.

A special Sunday show over the Labor Day weekend is on tap for Sept. 5. The structure of that program has not been finalized.

Mike Roselli, booking agent for the ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series, hopes to announce the entire 1999 ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series schedule later this month.

Historically Flemington is one of the fastest and most competitive stops on the ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series trail. Last year there were three different winners in the three point races there: Rudy Boetticher of Lake Hopatcong, N.J.; Russ Stoehr of Bridgewater, Mass.; and Phil DiMario of Piermont, N.Y.

Flemington was also the setting for the "First Feature" program, a non-point show open only to drivers who have never won an ARDC feature. Two New Jersey residents came home as the winners last year in that twinbill: Gary Mondschein of Stewartsville and Craig Rochelle of Hackettstown.

Flemington Speedway is located on State Route 31, 1 mile northeast of U.S. 202.
