1964 CAMRA "top ten" biographical:

Bob Gregg started racing in 1939 in a B-Class midget and  won the Oregon
Midget Racing Ass'n (now defunct) B-Class championship.  He moved into
the A-Class in 1940, finishing 12th in points.  This is the very lowest
in point standing he  ever finished in his racing career.

His third year of racing was a little better than his second. He finished tenth point-wise in the OMRA and in the Northwest association. The year 1941 was also the year he "got upside-down", the first of seven times. He went on his head at Jantzen Beach Arena in 1941, 1945 and 1951. In 1947 he turned turtle at Grants Pass, Oregon, and in 1956 he went rolled over twice. All of these mishaps were in the days of no roll bars.

Gregg remembered Indy in 1950 as the worst of his crashes. He had passed his driving test and was on his time trial run when, on the backstretch, a ire rod broke. With no control over his car, Bob slid for 750 feet, hitting turn #3 guardrail, flipped and slid for another 350 feet. His only comment -- "I didn't make the race."

Gregg won twenty-two championships in midgets or sprints in twenty-six years. This is believed to be the most any one driver has ever won in the history of auto racing in the Northwest. From 1958 to, and including, 1962, Gregg won a total of thirteen championships in midgets including the Oregon, Washington and Northwest championships.

In 1964 with CAMRA, Bob placed third in point standing, and was the oldest man (44) racing on the CAMRA circuit.
