Teddy Beach And The Beach Boys Motorsports Team Ready For Some Hot "Chili Bowl" Action

(Donnelsville, OH) -- After a long but successful 2001 racing season and a brief holiday away from the pressures of competition, the Beach Boys Motorsports team is ready to race, kicking off the 2002 season with one of the biggest races of the year. Teddy Beach and the Beach Boys Motorsports team, including Kenyon car "Rookie of the Year" Todd Beach, are headed west to Tulsa, OK this week for one of the most prestigious races of the year, the "Chili Bowl Midget Nationals." The event will take place Wednesday through Saturday, January 9-12, 2002, in the Tulsa Expo Center, pitting about 200 of the nation's best racers against each other for the ultimate prize -- a "Chili Bowl" A Main win on Saturday. This is Teddy's one-year anniversary at the "Chili Bowl" -- he ran his very first Midget race ever last year in this event, and is looking forward to the 2002 version after a whole year of intense preparation and experience.

Teddy's championship season last year was capped off with a stellar run at the traditional "Turkey Night Grand Prix" 100-lap Midget race at Irwindale (CA) Speedway on Thanksgiving night, where he finished 11th out of 48 cars. This is a hint of what is to come, as USAC's best was represented on the Speedway that night. Teddy & Co. are tackling the tough USAC National Midget tour in 2002, and if his performance in the two National races he ran in 2001 is any indication (winning a televised heat race in his first USAC race ever), his string of being awarded "Rookie of the Year" in every series he enters will not be broken.

Todd's season was no less spectacular, with him finishing fifth overall in the Kenyon Car Series points, picking up identical "Rookie of the Year" honors to his older brother's accomplishments in the senior series. Although Todd did not race quite as much as Teddy in 2001, he got a jump on 2002 over this holiday season by competing in the fun indoor Midget / Kenyon Car event, the "Rumble In Ft. Wayne" at the end of December. He finished second in Friday's A Main, won his heat race Saturday then broke an axle in the Feature that night, leaving him 10th in the final results. Teddy did not race in Ft. Wayne, preferring to save his equipment for the demanding USAC schedule to come.

Victory circles are not strange to this team. This is one team to watch, no matter where they race. Look for both Teddy and Todd to be forces on any race track they attack in 2002.

UPCOMING BEACH BOYS MOTORSPORTS SCHEDULE:

January 26 -- NAMARS Championship/Regional Midget Series Banquet
January 27 -- HARF Banquet
