Voigt Vaults To Seventh Place in Southwest Series Standings

GOLETA, Calif. (July 6, 2004) -- Greg Voigt used his best-ever road course performance to vault his way to seventh place in the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series championship standings.

Voigt finished 15th in the annual Southwest Series race at Infineon Raceway in his Agromin/Power Mix-sponsored Chevrolet. The race at Infineon is the only road race of the season for the series.

"I was very happy with the way the race went, especially since it is just my second start on a road course," Voigt said. "My goal was to finish in the top 10 and we raced in the top 10 most of the day."

Voigt started 31st in a field that included NASCAR Nextel Cup veterans and sports car specialists. Voigt raced his way to fourth place by the midway point in the event, dropped to 15th after a cycle of pit stops and then got back up to seventh place with two laps to go. Voigt finished 15th after an on-track incident.

"Agromin came on board with sponsorship for the race at Infineon," Voigt said. "We tried to give them a good show."

Greg Voigt has won track and regional championships on asphalt and dirt tracks around the Southwestern states. A chassis builder by trade, Voigt's crew chief at Infineon was Steve Teets. His engine builder is James Weston of Auto Pro Racing Engines.

Agromin, maker of Power Mix, brings 27 years experience in developing and manufacturing top quality soil products.
