Team Jeg's is ready for late season charge

Last year, Team Jeg's was on top of the world in Memphis after clinching the 2000 NHRA Winston Championship. Memphis proved to be one of the most memorable stops on the tour for Team Jeg's. Mike Coughlin won in Pro Stock Truck and younger brother Jeg followed up with a win in Pro Stock. It was the first time that Team Jeg's had won in Pro Stock and Pro Stock Truck at the same event.

This year things will be a little different when Team Jeg's rolls the yellow and black Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavaliers out of the transporter. There are six races remaining in the 2001 NHRA Winston Drag Racing season, which include the postponed Keystone Nationals. Jeg Coughlin Jr is currently sitting in the No. 5 position in the points chase. He has 982 points and can move as high as the No. 3 spot with a strong performance. Troy Coughlin is in the No. 19 spot with 374 points.

"We are really looking forward to having a strong performance in Memphis. We did great as a team last year at this event. We will come back as the defending champion and that always sets the tone for the weekend in the right direction," explained Jeg.

"I think that we have a solid combination going into Memphis. Our goal is to come out of the trailer strong when qualifying begins on Friday and keep improving as the weekend goes on," added Troy.

The postponement of the Keystone Nationals actually helped Team Jeg's. The team has been busy working on their in-house engines and the additional time to prepare was used wisely.

"We are really excited to put these new engines between the frame rails. The guys have been busy in the shop and we are looking forward to seeing their hard work pay off," stated Jeg.

"We are focused on making a late season charge," said Troy.
