GILLIG VERY OPTIMISTIC GOING INTO THE PHOENIX RACE!

PHOENIX, AZ PRE-RACE: Tony Gillig the driver of the Gillig Motorsports, Shanahan Drywall Pro Stock Oldsmobile is very optimistic heading into the Phoenix race. "We have a new engine coming form Steve Schmidt and according to Steve it has awesome power. We ran well in Pomona considering we were down on power and still working on the 500-inch combination. We only made 7 runs at the Houston SuperBowl and 3 runs at Pomona. With the absence of the night qualifying session, it will give us a couple more runs to sort out our new power in Phoenix. We hope to improve on our 18th spot in Pomona and qualify for our first NHRA National event. We have a great car and awesome power we just need to get things right in the bellhousing, then we will be in good shape."

Gillig with the tuning expertise of his father and Crew Chief Bob Gillig and brother in law Billy Wagner hopes to be in the hunt during qualifying for the Checker Schucks and Kragen Nationals in Phoenix, AZ. Gillig was quick to credit Rick Jones at RJ Racecars, Pat Norcia at Ram Clutches and Steve Schmidt for all their help making this possible. Coming from the mountain motor ranks; Gillig has encountered some new challenges but is very hopeful and plans to run the entire NHRA Winston tour.
