Vancouver, BC -- Local Trans-Am Driver, Marybeth Harrison will be racing in the SCCBC Invitational Sportscar Race at the Molson Indy Vancouver this Labour Day Weekend driving the #24 ProFormance Racing "TIM-BR-Mart"-sponsored racecar.

The last time Harrison led a field of cars around the Indy track was last year when she drove the official PPG Pace Car Viper for the CART race. She ended up leading the most laps of the race due to torrential downpours which kept her on the track for 34 laps.

This year, Harrison will be driving one of three 355 horsepower Winston Cup style stock cars that will be running in this year's Molson Indy Vancouver as part of the SCCBC Invitational Sportscar race on Saturday afternoon. The car is one of twelve equally-prepared cars that typically runs in the ProFormance Racing Series throughout Western North America.

Harrison is currently competing in the SCCA Trans-Am series driving for Jerry Moskel, team owner of Glacier Bear Racing based out of Charlotte North Carolina. She is the 1998 Canadian Formula Drivers Association Champion and still competes on a limited basis with her Fountain-Tire sponsored Formula 1600. This year, her team raced in Laguna Seca where she took two second-place finishes.

She first fell in love with racing after taking a racing course in the Fall of 1992. She raced karts with the Westwood Karting Association for three years before making racing her full time career in 1996 when she took Rookie of the Year in ProFormance Racing's BFGoodrich/ Toyota series. In 1997, she came second in the championship and broke the track record for her class. In 1998, she moved to open-wheel Formula 1600 cars with the support of her sponsor, Fountain Tire and car owner Gary Josefczyk. She was a PPG Pace Car Driver for two years and drove the Official Pace Car Viper for the Molson Indy Vancouver in 1999. She has also competed in Formula 2000 where she came 8th in the Bridgestone Racing School championship last year. She is currently an instructor with ProFormance Racing and is active in the Racing Against Drugs school program.
