ASCS Gulf South Region Schedule Released
TULSA, Okla. (January 16, 2007) -- The American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region will embark upon a busy slate of action in 2007 that consists of 24 events at ten different tracks throughout Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
The ASCS Gulf South Region kicks off the 2007 season with a return to Champion Park Speedway on March 31 with the inaugural Josh Lofton Memorial, one of nine events on the slate that offers up a $2,000 winner's share.
With four different champions crowned over the past four seasons, including reigning champion Gary Watson at Beaumont, TX, the 2007 ASCS Gulf South Region champion will be determined in the series season finale at Pelican Raceway Park (formerly Thunder Valley Speedway) in Union Hill, LA, on October 20.
Along the way the ASCS Gulf South Region's top guns will square off with the all-new ASCS Coastal Region on four occasions, including a June 22-23 weekend double at Motorama Speedway in Beaumont and Houston Raceway Park along with a September 15 showdown at Fast Trax Speedway in Chatham, LA, and an October 6 duel at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS.
The series also takes on the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region with the annual Shootout weekend at Waco's Heart O' Texas Speedway and Devil's Bowl Speedway near Dallas. Those events have been moved to Labor Day weekend this year, taking place on August 31 and September 1.
Texas tracks hosting the ASCS Gulf South Region this year include Motorama Speedway (six events), Houston Raceway Park (five events), Gator Motorplex in Willis a pair of times, Heart O' Texas on two occasions with single stops at Devil's Bowl as well as South Texas Speedway in Corpus Christi.
Three tracks in Louisiana will host the series, with three stops at Fast Trax Speedway in Chatham, two stops at Pelican Raceway Park in Union Hill and the season opener at Champion Park near Shreveport.
The October 6 event at Pike County Speedway marks the series only Mississippi stop of 2007.
