Ramey Reels in ASCS Sooner Win at Lawton

LAWTON, Okla. (September 17, 2005) -- Two-time American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region champion put a halt to Sean McClelland's two-race win streak at Lawton Speedway by topping Saturday night's 30-lap feature atop the quarter-mile, red clay oval.

Outside front row starter Robert Sellers gunned into lead at the drop of the green flag, with third-starting Ramey making quick work of polesitter Koby Barksdale to take over second on the opening round.

After a lap three caution for a Derek Cottrell spin, Ramey raced underneath Sellers in turn two and powered into the lead on the fourth lap. Ramey then survived several cautions along the way en route to a straightaway victory aboard Tom Willis' Wells-powered Commercial Music No. 7m Eagle.

"The car was a little tight early but as the track wore down the car just kept getting better and better," Ramey commented from victory lane. "It's our first night on a brand new Eagle and it's a good one."

Sellers held the runner-up spot to the stripe, with Johnny Miller and McClelland swapping third position several times in the latter stages.JMcClelland suffered rear end woes on the final lap, allowing Miller to claim the show position. Danny Jennings gained some ground on McClelland in the championship points race by finishing fourth, with Cody Branchcomb advancing from 13th to round out the top five.

Andy Shouse raced from 16th to sixth, while Skip Wilson rebounded from a late spin while dicing for fifth to salvage seventh. Barksdale crossed the stripe eighth, with 18th-starter Dex Eaton and McClelland completing the top ten.
