Jennings Takes ASCS Sooner Region Honors at Oklahoma City
Lonnie Wheatley, OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (August 17, 2007) -- Danny Jennings made a long-awaited return to American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region victory lane by topping a 36-car field in Friday night's 25-lap feature at State Fair Speedway.
Jennings overtook early leader Kevin Ramey on the ninth lap and held on the rest of the way to notch his ninth career series win and first stand-alone series win since April of 2005 aboard the Wesmar-powered Goodyear Tire Company No. 61J Maxim.
Ramey jumped into the early lead and paced the opening eight circuits before Jennings took command. Ramey kept the pressure on, pulling alongside on several occasions before slipping over the banking in turns three and four on the 22nd lap and losing three positions.
Jennings took the checkered flag in front of Gavin Punch, Larry Neighbors, Nick Smith and Ramey. Jamie Passmore was sixth in front of 16th-starter Jamie Passmore, Whit Gastineau, Brian McClelland and Sheldon Barksdale. Brent Swift, Kerry McAlister, Danny Jennings and Sheldon Barksdale topped heat race action, with Mike Peters and Passmore winning the twin "B" Mains.
