SYKESVILLE, Md. (April 13, 2004) - At Speed Motorsports announced today the expansion of its driver lineup to include karting and Panoz GT sensation Jameson Riley, of Wilton, Conn. Riley will drive At Speed's No. 26 Volvo S60R.
"We are very excited to have someone with Jameson's talent on our driver roster," At Speed Motorsports' owner/driver Bob Miller said. "I am expecting a lot from this young man and believe he will be quite a shining light during the 2004 World Challenge GT season and beyond.
"Jameson has poise, maturity and driving talent far beyond his years and I think this Rookie of the Year candidate is going to surprise a lot of the more experienced drivers in the series with his capabilities."
Riley has become a stable figure on the podium. His career has included multiple wins and podium finishes in the SKUSA Regional and National karting series, the Skip Barber series and the Panoz GT Series.
"There is something special here," Skip Barber's Chief Instructor Bruce MacInnes said. "Jameson has a unique combination of raw talent and a disciplined, thoughtful approach that will make him a force to be reckoned with in motorsports".
"My career in racing now needs further expansion which is why I chose the SPEED World Challenge GT Series," Riley added. "I am ready to compete with the likes of Randy Pobst, Derek Bell, Michael Galati and Andy Pilgrim to further sharpen my racing skills with some of the best anywhere. On a personal note, I am very excited to be working side-by-side with Derek Bell, Bob [Miller] and all of the other members of the At Speed Motorsports team."
Jameson will drive the remainder of the 2004 season for At Speed Motorsports.
The At Speed Motorsports team will field Volvo S60Rs with significantly augmented performance capabilities.
"With a Cosworth Racing engine, Brembo brakes, Ohlins shocks, Motec electronics, BBS rims, and other upgrades, our Volvos will perform with the best in the field," Miller said. "I know that with a talent like Jameson, these Volvos will surprise a lot of people."
