SUPERCHIPS SIGNS ON AS ASSOCIATE SPONSOR: Superchips, Inc., the industry leader in performance-enhancing engine computer chips has signed on as an associate sponsor for the remainder of the 2000 Speedvision World Challenge season. Based in Longwood, Fla., Superchips has spent over 10 years developing chips which boost engine performance, powerband and fuel management. BORLA PRESENTS DRIVE OF THE DAY AWARD: Borla Performance Industries, manufacturer of high-performance exhaust systems, has been named by SCCA Pro Racing as the official sponsor of the Borla Drive of the Day -- presented to the driver who delivers a superior performance in each Speedvision GT and Touring Car Championship race. Each Borla Drive of the Day winner will receive a $1,000 product certificate from Borla, to be presented on the victory podium after each race. "We feel that the best driving performance is a perfect fit to promote our performance exhaust systems," said Gary Taylor, Borla Performance Exhaust Systems Motorsports Manager. "The Speedvision World Challenge is about high performance parts for street cars, and we're proud to be a part of the series." The Borla Drive of the Day was announced to teams at Lowe's Motor Speedway, sans details of the full prize. Peter Cunningham (GT) and Pierre Kleinubing (Touring Car) were the initial recipients.

ACURA, BMW AND VIPER TO RUN SMALLER RESTRICTORS BEGINNING WITH MOSPORT: In an effort to continue fine-tuning the Speedvision World Challenge Championships into the closest racing among different manufacturers, three cars will run smaller restrictors beginning with the May 19-21 Mosport weekend. The Acura Integra R and BMW 328 (both Touring Cars) and Dodge Viper GTS (GT) have had their restrictors reduced by 2mm. "In Touring, we spent the better part of 1999 trying to equalize the Acuras and BMWs," said Mitch Wright, Speedvision World Challenge General Manager. "They're very close together now, but its time to bring the remainder of the cars up to that level. After re-evaluating the performance potential of the Vipers, the decision was made to return to the 50mm restrictors -- the same as last year."
