David "Slowride" Scott season preview

GARLAND, PA --- David "Slowride" Scott came into the 2001 season under a completely new set of circumstances. With the tragic passing of his dirt Late Model partner and co-owner, Tom Neureiter, over the winter, and a brand new, untested chassis, Scott could have had a dismal start to his season and no one would have batted an eye due to the extenuating circumstances. But Scott and his team would have none of that. In the team's first three outings of the 2001 season Scott claimed three consecutive features wins at Lernerville Speedway and Challenger Raceway.

Winning the first two nights at Lernerville Speedway as well as Challenger's season opener, Scott is on the fast track to matching, and surpassing, last year's win total of eleven victories. And besides his high profile Late Model operation, Scott will once again pull double duty this season as he straps into Denny Chase's Sprint Car in which he will compete with it at Lernerville and Tri-City speedways.

With their main focus and priority devoted to their Late Model program this season, Scott has a resolve to achieve the goals his team has set. And make no mistake, Scott and his team are in the best possible position to attain their goals.

Running the newly developed Magnum Chassis out of Carl Billet's shop, Scott has taken Western Pennsylvania racing by storm. In addition, the team has a new Cornett Racing Engine on standby as well as new crew members and a new sponsor.

"Love it!" exclaims Scott when asked about the all new Magnum Chassis. "Carl built a wonderful car. It's just awesome! It works, it adapts. If you make a change with it you can tell. I made a couple mistakes with it but most everything is alright. I can still drive it even if it's off a little bit. Which is nice. That's the big thing. If you're not perfect I can still drive the thing."

Running Jim Scott Racing Engines, Scott has added a new Cornett Racing Engine to the arsenal for some of the higher-profile races that are fast approaching.

"We've got a big Cornett motor so hopefully she will make the power," stated Scott. We are going to put it in for the STARS race at Raceway 7 which is the week before Bristol. They are also having a memorial race for Tom (Neureiter) at Hidden Valley. We'll run there, too, then head for Bristol."

Scott's stated goals are to win a MACS or STARS race this season and he is in the best position to score that feat. With a new chassis, motor and an intense focus, the talented Scott is on a mission to succeed and achieve.

"Our biggest goal is to win a MACS race or a STARS race," said Scott. "That's our main goal. We've been close and if I can get a little bit of Lady Luck on my side and keep things going in the right direction I think I can win one of those."

The Slowride Racing Team will make Lernerville Speedway home on Friday nights, running both their Late Model and Sprint Car. After that, the sky is the limit as the team has set their sites on a wide variety of MACS, STARS and UDTRA events throughout the PA-OH-WV-MD-VA-TN region, and perhaps beyond.

Coming on board as a new sponsor on the #3 Magnum Chassis is US Bulk Service, who joins returning sponsors NW Penn Auction Sales, Stuart Tool & Die, WJN Trucking, Hitchcock Signs, Magnum Chassis, Big A Auto Parts and Hoosier Tire Ohio Valley.

Scott also announced the addition of two new members to his professional pit crew. Joining established crew members Brian Bull (Crew Chief) Dave Beatty, Joe Dragosavac, Shawn Black, Bill Silvis, Kyle Scott, Randy Stuart, Wayne Neureiter, Travis Larson and Lil' Jim are Steve Carr and Todd Kellogg.
