DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 09, 2006) -- Florence (S.C.) Motor Speedway is the latest short track to be added to the growing list of ASA Member Tracks with the announcement that they have come to an agreement for the 2006 season.
"Watching the ASA Member Track program for the past couple of years I have really seen it expand and just knew that we should become a part of it," said Charlie Powell, Florence Motor Speedway promoter. "In dealing with Dennis (Huth) over the years I could see that the ASA Member Track program is the wave of the future and badly needed in our industry."
Located in the heart of the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina, this 0.40-mile paved oval is host to some of the hottest Saturday night action in the South. In addition to the seven regular track classes, there will be a visit by the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division on September 16, as well as other special events such as the Great American School Bus race and the annual November Fall Classic. The Late Models and Seneca Super Truck Series will alternate Saturdays during the season offering fans plenty of exciting racing action.
The 2006 season opens on March 25 and runs through mid-November. Adult tickets are reasonably priced at $10, and children under seven are allowed in for free; combined with the action all around this short track makes Florence Motor Speedway an excellent place to introduce families to the thrills of motorsports. For track information, visit the web site at www.FlorenceMotorSpeedway.com or telephone (843) 761-1428.
"Charlie and I go way back and he is considered to be one of the most respected track operators in the business," said Dennis Huth, president of Racing Speed Associates which owns and operates the ASA Racing Member Track program. "It is great that we were able to come to an agreement and have Florence Motor Speedway on board this season to help lend their support to all the programs that we have in motion."
