Morris to Drive in V8 Ute Legends Race at the Clipsal 500

V8 Supercar Team owner/driver Paul Morris has accepted an invitation to drive in the V8 Utes "Ten Years of Legends Race" with Scott Jennings at the Clipsal 500, March 11 - 14.

Jennings is happy to secure Morris as his co-driver and believes he will be a great asset for round one of the 2010 series, which is celebrating ten years since the series launch at the Clipsal event in 2001.

"I'm pumped; I've been his mate for years so it will be great to drive together. It should be really good to run with Paul. He has a lot of experience and a lot of talent and hopefully I can learn something from him," said Jennings.

Although this won't be Morris's first time in a V8 Ute (he had a drive at QLD Raceway in 2001), he is excited about the race and is eager to help Jennings out behind the wheel.

"I'll try and toughen him up a bit and help him go a little quicker. He's been knocking on the door for a while so I'll teach him how to push through it.

"He'll come up to our track at the Holden Driving Centre for some practice before we head to Adelaide," said Morris.

Although Morris will be stepping out of the Supercheap livery for the weekend Jennings will still have a colourful looking car.

"The car is under design at the moment and we are coming up with a fresh scheme. Hungry Jacks are back on board and are continuing their support since 2006," explained Jennings.

Both drivers agree that the Race is a great way to celebrate the categories tenth year and Morris believes there will be a bit of rivalry on the track.

"I think the race will be good fun. It will add a fair bit of interest and it will be interesting to see who'll go alright. I think we should do pretty well," said Morris.

Morris is one of a few legends already confirmed for the Event including Leanne Tander (female legend), Olympic Gold ice-skating legend Steven Bradbury and Australian stunt riding legend Robbie Maddison.

The "Ten Years of Legends Race" is a two driver format and as a celebration of the V8 Utes tenth year, each driver will have 1 practice, 1 qualifying and 1 race with the final race a two driver format with mid race driver change. The Clipsal event will be round one of the 2010 Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series - protected by Armor All.

The V8 Utes had their inaugural race at the Clipsal 500 in 2001 and have competed at the Adelaide street race every year since.
