victory in the 24 Hours of Daytona. First IMSA GTP race (1981).
February 2
Cal Rice drives the Chrysler-powered Hot Rod Magazine Special to new
kilometer elapse time and speed World Records at March Air Force Base. His
combined two-way ET was 18.1045 seconds with an average speed of 123.556
mph (1958).
February 3
Frank Jelinski, Henri Pescarolo, Hurley Haywood, Bob Wollek, and Louis
Krages drive a Joest Porsche 962 to victory in the 24 Hours of Daytona (1991).
February 4
A.J. Foyt, Bob Wollek, Al Unser Sr. (all suffering from the flu) and
Thierry Boutsen drive the Swap Shop Porsche 962 to victory in the 24 Hours
of Daytona (1985).
February 5
Jurgen Lassig, Christophe Bouchut, Giovanni Livaggi, and Marco Werner
drive a Porsche Spyder K8 to victory in the 24 Hours of Daytona. Third
overall and first in GTS-1 is the Ford Mustang driven by Tommy Kendall,
Michael Brockman, NASCAR star Mark Martin, and actor Paul Newman (1995).
