Darren Law to Pull Double Duty Weekend as Season Heats Up

(Phoenix, Arizona) Endurance racer and Phoenix resident Darren Law is preparing for his 2008 racing season to heat up as he will race in a Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No 16 and an American Le Mans Series event in the same weekend. Darren will be piloting Porsche powered machines in both series the weekend of May 16-18.

Darren's weekend will begin May 16th with first practice at the Grand-Am Rum Bum 250 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca near Salinas, California. Law will share driving duties in the #59 Brumos Porsche Riley Daytona Prototype with longtime teammate David Donohue of Malvern, Pennsylvania. Law and Donohue have been able to show competitive speed during the first several races of the 2008 Grand-Am season with the Brumos, but have been unable to translate that speed to strong results this year. Law feels that it is only a matter of time before they convert their speed into a good result.

"We've had some good runs this year," remarked Law, "and the car is clearly quick, at least for the shorter runs. It's unfortunate that we haven't been there to fight in the end of these last few races because we have the speed. We're not the only team to have issues finishing these races. I hope were over these little issues - we have had mechanical problems and have fallen unlucky to some strategy calls and I hope that stuff is finally behind us."

With a strong 4th place finish at Laguna Seca in 07, Darren is hoping that 08 will allow the Brumos to show well again at the 2.238-mile natural terrain road course that boasts the famous Corkscrew corner. Law and Donohue will take the green flag for the Rum Bum 250 1:45 pm west-coast time for the scheduled 2 hour 45 minute race on Saturday May 17th. Coverage for the race will be tape delayed and held on SPEED the following day at noon EST.

Immediately following the conclusion of the Rum Bum 250, Darren will take a flight to Salt Lake City, Utah and the Miller Motorsports Park for the American Le Mans Series' Utah Grand Prix. Law will pilot the #44 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche GT3 RSR with Seth Neiman of San Francisco, California in the GT2 class. Law teamed with Neiman for the ALMS season opener at Sebring and helped score the team's first 1-2 finish at the 12-hour event. Darren also was in the driver's seat at the St. Petersburg event. Due to scheduling conflicts with the Grand-Am series and his obligations to the Brumos team, Law was forced to miss the Long Beach event, but is happy to be back with the Lizards for the majority of the 2008 season. Darren will miss almost all of the practice sessions for the Utah Grand Prix, but will drive in the warm up session Sunday morning before taking the green flag for the scheduled 2 hour 45 minute race at 1:05 pm.

"I unfortunately had to miss Long Beach and missed out on some points, but I'm looking forward to Miller," said Law. "The GT3 RSR has closed the gap quite a bit to the Ferraris and I'm hoping we can give them a good run this weekend. Seth (Neiman) will do all the practice and test sessions and will also qualify the car. The Flying Lizard team is really on their game this season. I can't wait to get in the car on Sunday morning. I have to thank Seth and the Lizard team for working with my schedule, they are a great operation, and I'll be working hard to get the #44 near the front."

After Darren's busy May 16-18 weekend he will be headed to Lime Rock Park in Connecticut for the Grand-Am Koni Challenge race in a Motorsports Technology Group Porsche 997.
